The Marais Jacket: When a Garment Becomes Part of Your Life
jenni redstone
There are certain pieces in your wardrobe that go beyond fashion—they become part of who you are. They carry your stories, your memories, and your shape. The Marais Jacket is one of those garments.
When we first designed the Marais Jacket, it actually came out of a series of small mistakes. We made a pocket we thought was too small—frustrating at first. But instead of scrapping it, we decided to add another, layering a second pocket over the top. And that’s when the magic happened. That accidental double pocket suddenly felt fresh, functional, and oddly satisfying. It wasn’t what we planned—but it became something we loved. So we kept it, refined it, and made it part of the final design. That’s how the Marais Jacket came to life: through imperfection, intuition, and a little bit of play.
And like its design story, it’s a jacket that continues to evolve.
My own Marais Jacket has become a kind of second skin. The denim has faded in all the right places—creases at the elbows, a soft patina around the cuffs, a little scuff on the pocket from where I clip my keys. It’s worn in, not worn out. It feels good to put on, every time. Like stepping into a version of myself that’s more grounded, more confident, more me.
There’s something powerful about wearing something that’s yours in every sense—not just owned, but lived in. It’s been with me in the studio, sleeves rolled up as I make things with my hands. It’s come with me out at night, the kind of jacket you don’t have to think twice about throwing on before stepping into the world. There’s comfort in that reliability, but also a quiet sense of pride.
It’s funny how clothing can do that—how a well-made jacket can support you, embolden you, even give you a little extra confidence when you need it. The Marais Jacket isn’t flashy, but it is personal. It becomes yours with every wear.
That’s the beauty of good design and honest materials: they meet you where you are, and grow with you. And somewhere along the way, they stop feeling like something you wear—and start feeling like a part of you.
We'd love to hear from you.
